Apple M5 Mac Leak: Everything Coming in 2026

Apple just accidentally revealed almost their entire M5 Mac lineup through Mac OS Tahoe’s code. From MacBooks to desktops, even a new Mac we haven’t seen before, everything seems to have been hinted at. The most exciting part? The base 14-inch M5 MacBook Pro appears to be launching in just a few weeks.

Base M5 MacBook Pro: Coming Very Soon

Evidence for this comes from Mac OS Tahoe 26.0.2, which lists a model identifier J704. For reference, the current M4 base MacBook Pro is J604. This confirms the J704 as the next-gen M5 MacBook Pro. Expect a performance upgrade with the M5 chip, especially in graphics — leaks from the M5 iPad Pro suggest around a 35% jump. Other than the chip, don’t expect design changes; it’ll look just like the current model.

M5 MacBook Air: Slightly Later in Early 2026

The M5 MacBook Air, with model numbers J813 and J815 for the 13-inch and 15-inch versions, is rumored to ship with Mac OS 26.2 in early 2026, possibly January. Design and display are expected to remain the same. Right now, the M4 MacBook Air is still a steal at around 72000 and offers plenty of power for most users, so waiting for the M5 isn’t a must unless you want the latest chip.

M5 Pro and M5 Max: High-End Power in Spring 2026

The 14-inch and 16-inch MacBook Pros with M5 Pro and M5 Max chips, identified as J714 and J716, are rumored to ship with Mac OS 26.3, pointing to a spring 2026 launch. The delay compared to the base M5 MacBook Pro is likely due to Apple implementing new TSMC SIC MH technology. This allows CPU and GPU cores to be split into blocks, possibly letting customers mix and match CPU and GPU configurations for the first time ever.

Performance-wise, these chips will bring a huge graphics boost, likely with even more GPU cores than the standard M5. The design remains unchanged — same display, ports, keyboard, and chassis.

Budget M5 MacBook: Affordable Power

A model identified as J700 may be the rumored A18-based budget MacBook Air, priced around $599. It’s expected to have the same 13-inch display and current design, a single USB-C port, MagSafe 3 charging, and the A18 Pro chip, which outperforms the M1 in CPU tasks. This could be a game-changer for students and business users looking for a powerful yet affordable option.

Desktop Macs: Mac Mini, Mac Studio, and iMac

Apple’s code also hints at desktop Macs coming in 2026:

  • Mac Mini: J873S and J873G
  • Mac Studio: J775C and J775D
  • iMac: J833CT

These are expected to launch during Apple’s WWDC event in June 2026, running Mac OS 26.4. The main update is the M5 chip; design changes are minimal.

Early Peek at M6 Base MacBook Pro

Another identifier, J804, points to a base M6 MacBook Pro. This model will likely arrive in fall 2026. Interestingly, it still uses the “J” code, meaning it won’t get the high-end redesign seen on the M6 Pro and M6 Max MacBook Pros, like a thinner chassis or OLED display. OLED may only appear on the base MacBook Pro in the M7 or M8 generation.

What This All Means

Apple’s accidental leak gives a rare look at their upcoming Mac lineup. Starting from basic models such as the M5 Pro MacBooks to premium ones like the A18 Macs, 2026 sure looks to be an exciting one for Mac lovers. Starting from as early as the beginning of the next year, the basic version of the MacBook Pro with a 14-inch screen will soon reach early adopters, along with other advanced versions in the next spring and summer seasons.

Which of these Macs are you looking forward to? It could be the budget MacBook A18, the extreme performance MacBook M5 Pro, or maybe even the powerhouse that is the iMac. Whatever Apple has on its docket for the year, fans will likely be pleasantly surprised.
